Education and training

One site, one vision: education and training for all medical, clinical, clinical support, non-clinical and scientific staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH).

Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Institute of Child Health have close academic links in both teaching and research. The joint site, with links between Guilford Street and Great Ormond Street, offers great opportunities for communications between members of laboratories, clinics, research groups, and the taught programmes. A vigorous calendar of short courses (carrying CPD points) and conferences is offered through the Courses and Conferences Office. The Institute also offers regular lectures of general interest in the Otto Wolff Lecture programme.

A wide range of lecture theatres, teaching rooms, conference facilities, central computing and Library facilities is found at the Institute, where the Teaching and Learning Administration supports taught postgraduate programmes and undergraduate programmes.

The Education & Training department at GOSH provides learning opportunities to all Trust staff through a variety of means, including face-to-face teaching sessions, e-Learning and bespoke events. The team operates out of a purpose built Education & Training Centre offering the ability to cater for a wide range of requirements and includes full disabled access.

Education and training for all doctors within the Trust, including career development and pastoral care is overseen by the Post Graduate Medical Education department (PGME). As a teaching environment PGME is also designed to develop generic and specifically requested teaching and training across the Trust.
